[Blockquote] If you talk to jailbreakers become, I am both surprised and shocked by the lies and myths they believe ... Here are five myths that recur most often. [/ Blockquote]
1. The jailbreak is illegal.
This is the argument I hear most often, and the "fan boys" Apple (and girls!). The truth is simple, it is not. The law states that the "reverse engineering" of material is acceptable to add functionality. The jailbreak certainly adds functionality, so Apple has no recourse against the jailbreak directly, but they resort to tactics of intimidation.
2. Jailbreaking voids the warranty.
This is not true. Because the restore process completely erases the disk. There is no possibility for Apple to discover that he has already been jailbroken. All software is deleted, including files of the jailbreak. One of my friends had a jailbroken iPod touch when the screen started to loosen the edges. It was restored and sent to Apple. They replaced, no questions asked.
3. Damage to iDevice connected to jailbreak.
I can not stress enough the usefulness of the restore option in iTunes. Whatever happens, you can always restore. The DFU mode is built into the hardware, there is no way you can change it. Consequently, there is no situation in which the modification of software will make your iDevice inoperable and not be able to restore. Seriously, try. SSH as root and delete everything. It's true; EVERYTHING. A restore will still work. I know it sounds crazy! I tried! There may still be material errors that occur, but only bad luck, they may not be caused by the software.
4. The jailbreak your device leaves open to hackers.
I must admit, this is partly true. However, it is the fault of the users, and not the jailbreak. They have installed OpenSSH, but have not changed the password. Think about creating an e-mail and leaving the password "password" and then complain about being hacked. It's the same principle. It is easy to follow guides on the internet on how to change your root password, something highly recommended.
5. The jailbreak does not add functionality, it is only used to obtain pirated applications.
Is multi-task is not a feature? Is the theming is not an add features? Being able to circumvent the "protection" unnecessary by Apple (such as the applications are not able to change brightness of the screen) is not an add features? Is a instant access to a panel that allows us to switch any feature (SBSettings-try it!) Is not an addition of functionality? Suddenly, this argument seems valid is not it? I confess, a high proportion of users who jailbreak is to get applications pirated. I do not condemn it at all. However, anti-jailbreakers must understand that we are not all criminals. Many of us jailbreak for a simple reason: it allows our devices to reach their full potential.
For the jailbreak community to prosper and grow, it is important to better educate future jailbreakers, and refute the lies that are everywhere on the net.
