Home My Blog 10 tips to get Google Chrome

How many "buzz" around the first web browser from Google! Borrowing good ideas to Safari, IE8 and Firefox 3, Chrome is more minimalist but incredibly swift! The best is yet to form its own opinion by trying it today. To help you get started, here is a 10-step guide to discover the specific Browser and first few tips ...

An intelligent facility

Obviously, first and foremost, you must first download and install the browser. A matter of seconds because it weighs just 7 MB ...

chrome_install To download Google Chrome, click>> here <<

Once installation is complete, the software displays a box "Welcome to Google Chrome", click the Customize link these parameters. Select "Import settings from:" and choose the Pop-up menu on the browser you use most often. In my case, I have chosen to import from Firefox. If you try Chrome for the first time, chances are that you want to keep your old browser by default, so uncheck the option "Set Google Chrome as default browser." Click OK and then click Launch Google Chrome.

chrome_postinstall

During the first launch of Chrome, you can configure the search or to keep Google as the engine, or use another of your choice.

Chrome is smart enough he knows not only import but also your favorite settings, accounts and passwords for sites registered by your previous browser.

chrome_start

When you launch the browser or open a new tab, Chrome offers a home page rather original and very well thought out. It is composed of thumbnails of the most frequently consulted. Just simply click on the image to visit the site of his choice.

At the bottom of the screen displays a bar recently closed tabs.

[div class = "notice" class2 = "typo-icon"] If you close a tab by mistake, open a new tab using the keyboard shortcut [Ctrl] + [T] then use the bar at the bottom of the home page to find a click accidentally closed the page [/ div]

[div class = "notice" class2 = "typo-icon"] practical detail, note the presence of low home page link to view the browsing history. [/ div]

ddtoc_break title = (An intelligent address bar)

chrome_search Just in the same spirit as Firefox 3 and IE8, the address bar of Chrome is also a research tool.

To browse with Chrome, just place the cursor in the address bar and start to enter a keyword. Upon entry, the browser automatically suggests more hits from favorites or history, it also suggests related queries based on the same technology recently installed Google Suggest on the search page of Google.

The address field, which is also a search box, accepts Boolean operators for sophisticated searches.

[div class = "notice" class2 = "typo-icon"] Chrome remembers your entries and analyzing your habits. If you often enter the address "informatiqueconseils.net" or "ebay.ca" very soon you will just have to enter "i" or "e" followed by [Enter] to go directly to the Site informatiqueconseils.net or eBay.ca. [/ div]

ddtoc_break title = (The dynamic tabs)

chrome_tabs

Like any modern browser, Chrome uses tabbed browsing.

Here, the tabs are located above the address bar. Under Chrome, each tab is independent of the others, ie the page (or Web application) uses its own memory space, so that if the display causes a malfunction of the browser, other tabs open will not be affected (a process of insulation that is also found in IE8).

To open a new tab, simply click on the "+" button to the right of the tabs or press [Ctrl] + [T].

To move and reorder the tabs, simply drag and drop the tab using the mouse.

[div class = "notice" class2 = "typo-icon"] To open a tab in a new window, grab the tab with the mouse and while holding the left mouse button, drag the tab out of the Chrome window! [/ div]

[div class = "notice" class2 = "typo-icon"] To duplicate a tab open, click the right mouse button and choose Duplicate from the shortcut menu. [/ div]

chrome_private

Like Safari and IE8 before it, Chrome offers a way "Private Browsing". In this mode, browsing incognito. No history of pages visited and no cookies are stored on the computer.

This is handy when using the machine to someone else or when we want to prepare a surprise gift to someone who also has access to your PC.

To activate the incognito mode, go to the menu page, and click New incognito window.

[div class = "notice" class2 = "typo-icon"] You can also begin incognito mode by pressing [Shift] + [Ctrl] + [N].

You can even navigate both normally and in incognito mode, through two separate windows. [/ Div]

ddtoc_break title = (Application) Shortcuts

chrome_shortcut

The current Web is not only because of web pages. It is increasingly composed of "web applications" such as Gmail, GDOC, Hotmail, etc..

Google Chrome turns any Web page or Web application in a real Windows application!

The browser can indeed create a shortcut on the desktop that, when clicked, displays the page directly or applet window to a Windows environment without navigation or address bar.

[list class = "bullet-2"] [li] Open the page or site into Windows application, [/ li] [li] Click on the menu page, [/ li] [li] Select Create shortcuts to applications, [/ li] [li] Indicate which location you want the shortcut is created (Desktop, Start Menu, Launch bar). [/ li] [li] Click on OK. [/ li] [li] To start the application, then just double-click it like any Windows application. [/ li] [/ list]

[div class = "notice" class2 = "typo-icon"] The application thus created is independent of browser windows open. It is for instance very convenient to browse in Chrome while viewing Web videos or listening to WebRadio run as shortcuts. [/ Div]

ddtoc_break title = (Task Manager built)

chrome_task Google Chrome has been specifically designed to implement the new Web applications. Therefore, in many respects, it behaves like an operating system rather than a browser. We can thus check at any time Web applications running, the amount of memory used by each of them and their plug-ins, the CPU used, etc..

[list class = "bullet-2"] [li] Click on the menu page, [/ li] [li] Options to Extend the developers [/ li] [li] Select Task Manager. [/ li] [/ list]

To "kill" a tab that seems blocked or inactive, click its name in the task manager Google Chrome then click End process.

[div class = "notice" class2 = "typo-icon"] You can call the task manager Google Chrome by pressing [Shift] + [Esc]. [/ div]

[div class = "notice" class2 = "typo-icon"] link Advanced Statistics Manager displays a Web page that reveals all the technical data of enabled processes and consumed by Google Chrome. [/ div]

title = (ddtoc_break Download Manager)

chrome_dl

Google Chrome incorporates mini download manager. Whenever you initiate a download button appears at the bottom of the window. The download time remaining is displayed and a green arrow appears in the tab to indicate that a download is in progress.

After downloading a complete file, simply click on the button to access the page of download history. Download the most recent appears first.

Click above to start the download. Click the View File link to access the file location on disk.

[div class = "notice" class2 = "typo-icon"] To pause a download without canceling call manager using [Ctrl] + [J] and click Pause. [/ div]

[div class = "notice" class2 = "typo-icon"] By default, Google Chrome will never ask you where to store the downloaded file. You can change this behavior by going to the Tools menu, clicking Options, then open the General Options tab and tick the box Always ask where to save files. [/ Div]

[div class = "notice" class2 = "typo-icon"] The download manager has a search box that can easily find in the history file downloaded several days ago. [/ div]

ddtoc_break title = (Security)

chrome_pwd

Google Chrome is a browser for a new generation that takes the user's security very seriously. If you believe Google, everything has been designed to allow cybercriminals, trojans and viruses at the gateway to your computer.

The browser also operates the online services of Google to notify you as soon as the danger mark as you attempt to access a site "phishing" or a potentially dangerous site.

But only time will confirm the soundness of Chrome face of attacks that hackers are bound to invent him ...

[div class = "notice" class2 = "typo-icon"] Take the time to strengthen the basic security of the browser by preventing any cookie can log into the system. Go to the Tools menu, then Options. Open the Advanced tab and get to the bottom of the list of options. In the Cookie Settings menu, select Limit the use of third-party cookies. [/ Div]

[div class = "alert" class2 = "typo-icon"] Google Chrome still has progress to make in terms of confidentiality. It displays in effect clear the passwords for access to restricted sites! Go to Tools, then Options, and in the General Options tab. Click on View Saved Passwords. Select a site and click Show password "[/ div]

ddtoc_break title = (A great historical)

chrome_history We expected no less from Google, but we must recognize that its history manager is really very pleasant to use.

Open the Tools menu, click History. The history of visited pages is displayed inside the browser as a very readable page with links grouped by date and displayed according to their opening time.

[div class = "notice" class2 = "typo-icon"] Feel free to use and abuse of the search history. Enter a keyword and click on Search History. [/ Div]

[div class = "notice" class2 = "typo-icon"] You can call history by pressing the key combination [Ctrl] + [H] [/ div]

On verra si Windows Phone 7 va sauver Microsoft.

J'aime bien Opéra également, très rapide. Encore plus rapide que Chrome. Surtout lorsqu'on fait back, c'est instantané.
